S1E1 / FOLLOW THE MONEY
For our launch episode, we waste not time getting into it: In conversation with journalist nina burleigh, David and christina take a deep dive into the dark money fueling white christian nationalism.
MARCH 2023 — We’re excited to welcome journalist, best-selling author and documentary producer Nina Burleigh.
She is the author of seven books, most of which, as it turns out, concern topics at the intersection of facts versus faith, science versus superstition. From religious extremists scouring the Holy Land for real and/or fake biblical artifacts as historical proof for their faith; to the epic saga of Amanda Knox whose murder trial in Italy amounted to a literal witch hunt; to the slow-walked response and disinformation campaign surrounding the pandemic in her latest book, Virus.
Nina has written for Rolling Stone, Time magazine, New York magazine and The New York Times. She was a columnist for The New York Observer (back when it was a serious publication before Jared Kushner bought it and turned it into a real estate rag).
Nina’s an adjunct professor at NYU's Arthur J. Carter Journalism Institute, and her work has been cited in hundreds of scholarly articles. She’s a familiar presence on television; you may have seen her on Good Morning America, the Today Show, MSNBC or CNN.
Her latest piece for The New Republic is about the dark money feeding right wing extremism in American politics], and we’re delighted to welcome Nina Burleigh to Unreasonable. Hello, Nina.
